Hi There,
We have decided that we want to move out to australia (cant wait), Anyway I am training to be a primary school teacher in Scotland and have 2 years to go. My husband is a truck driver which unfortunaly isnt on the skilled occupation list.
I have 3 children 2 boys one of which is disabled and a daughter.

We are hoping to be moving over in 5 years time althought that seems like a live time away I'm sure it wont be long in coming around.

I just cant wait to get a better life for my children as they can play more outdoors which is much healthier than sitting indoors plying computer games all the time..

We are hoping to move to south australia maybe near kadina..

speak to you all soon x x

Helen x x

Hi and Welcome,

Kadina and it's surrounding towns, Wallaroo and Moonta are beautiful spots, although they are what is considered country by Australian standards. That doesn't mean a lot if you are happy to drive when you really have to. We visited Wallaroo for the first time in a while the other weekend, and I could happily live there!

I'll be very interested to hear how your application goes.

Hi Helen and welcome to Adelaidebrits.
I'll disagree with the others just to be different, I think the 5 years will drag on and on and on but the last 6 months will fly by :D

Best of luck. :super

hi everyone,
5 years does seem like a lifetime away as i have to go through 5 more winters here so hopefully they arent like the one we are having this year. i think we actually got to -20 at one point.

one major concern is my disabled son, at the moment he is ina school for special needs children as he couldnt manage in mainstream school. Each month he goes into respite to give the rest of us a rest as he can be very demanding. If we came over to australia what would he be be entitled to? if anything.

if someone could help me id be very grateful. ive tried readin up ona lot of things on the internet but im struggling to find out about this.

thank you helen xx

I'd be interested to see how this pans out, because I always believed that having a child with a disability was a barrier to successful migration. I don't have any experience, but this was always my understanding. A little google'ing supports my theory.
http://www.watoday.com.au/opinion/socie ... -ndeb.html

Also, I am led to believe that disability support services in Australia (particularly those in regional areas like Kadina) are sadly inadequate, and very much lacking compared to the UK. I have a sister in the UK with a son with cerebral palsy, and the level of care and support they have over there could only be dreamed of here.

Certainly don't give up the dream, just based on my poorly informed post, but please, be aware.
