Well we've just come back from Glenelg and we were very disappointed.

The event really should have had some sort of compere COMMUNICATING with the crowd. The cameras seemed to stay in the same spot filming. After being told they were going to film on the beach, I waited over an hour with a very fed up two year old and they filmed for a whopping 5 seconds but anyone with young kids didn't stand a chance. We ended up leaving at 6.00 pm so maybe it improved? Quite a lot of people seemed to be very disgruntled though.

Aw well - maybe next year!!!!

Yep, we've come back feeling the same.

We were able to get right on the front line when they asked people to go on to the beach but when the camera came round adults just ran over the top of us and I had to dive over Thomas to protect him.
Well I hope they are proud of their 5 seconds of fame because I have a 4 year old with crushed toes.

We left at 6 too. Its beyond me why they didn't put the cameras on the Surf Club Balcony or on the beach watch tower - at least everyone would have stood a chance of being seen :!:

We did get on TV, but had to wait until 7pm - we found it really hard because we were picked out by SATC with our banner and from 4.30 they were telling us to go here and there and hold on and etc. I think our rellies had given up watching by then.

It was chaos - the SATC lady told us that they were supposed to walk through the crowds, but couldn't due to numbers - I felt really sorry for those with littlies, especially those in front of us at the end on the beach who gave up at the last minute.

Sorry also to anyone that I hit with my banner, with the wind etc I think that was quite a few people by the end.

Glad I did it, but won't be going again! I feel like i have done a marathon now.

Didn't see 2 orange birds?

Yes, totally agree - a big disappointment. Our kids spent all morning making a banner (something to do with the weather being so awful this morning) and I don't think even the banner got on the TV let alone any of us. It was badly organised and some very rude people there.

I can't understand why they didn't film from the balcony and they would have got everyone on and the beach behind us all. Mind you I don't expect the weather made for a very good beach scene really.

Anyway don't think we will bother next year, just be happy to see friends and family on the webcam.

Don't remember anyone in orange tops, but then we weren't anywhere near the front so won't have done.

You did well to miss them - two horrible trollopes who thought they were great and had great pleasure pushing passed 'littlies' to get there 5 secs of fame!!!!!

I hope they're happy with themselves but if the event was staged by SA Government in conjunction with GMTV as a way of enticing more migrants here - then the 'tango ladies' haven't done them any favours. And in my view given the brits already here a bad image based on their actions today.

That said - we enjoyed the afternoon and we have learnt from the UK that we were seen on GMTV, as was our banner (walk on part only though) - we have also managed to put some faces to few 'avatars' and also met completey new people too and of course the weather, towards the end, gave us really feel of the UK at Christmas time. :nonnon :nonnon

But the event itself was very poorly organised or the numbers attending were totally underestimated and overwhelmed them. But they knew earlier in the week that a over 1600 people had registered for a free sausage, so they should have organised it better in my opion - few barriers, defined and designated filming areas etc. :quoi :quoi

Anyway rant over and off to get wet from the inside to out now.

Merry Christmas

Yes, they showed a 5 second clip of them standing on the beach alone with the banner. I'm still watching a recording of the show but that was the best section so far - you could see how lovely the beach is and actually read the banner. I am stopping the tape to try and read the banners, but it is so hard to make them out. I've just seen a woman interviewed expecting triplets - again, own up if it is you!! :o There was also a very funny banner saying come to Adelaide for the weather - just not today! :haha

As a viewer it has come over as very friendly - obviously the power of editing. Only a few minutes of footage have been shown over the whole GMTV program though. Very disappointing. It did look very cold and windy too - although the GMTV presenters said it was warm but not sunny. :???:

I stood with them for about an hour with my banner (thought their banner was great and bound to filmed hence me standing with them), They were a young couple living with rellies at Parafield Gardens - ony arrived on 10th November 2007.

Orange trollopes pushing little kids to the ground! Maybe someone here knows them and they can be publicly shamed.Adults are fair game -but pushing kids over to get their 5 seconds of fame is disgusting. Shame on them!

We were stood at the front only to be pushed back by people crowding in and 2 orange women pushing their way through. At that point we gave up too.:insulte I wish it had been more organised. Hope lessons will be learnt for next time. At least our Christmas day looks like it will be sunny!! Merry Christmas to fellow adbrits not here yet. :sunny:

yes I felt very embarrassed too by the behaviour of some brits.

Particularly the 2 orange idiots and the men shouting abuse at the photographer.hopefully none of that was aired

shame a few people have to spoil it all

Yep... we agree with everything mentioned so far

Why was it not filmed from the stage or the balcony, then everyone could have had the opportunity to be seen back home!

My wife and two year decided to stay on the picnic blanket to avoid getting crushed, the event was a mess... couldn't have organised a p**s up in a brewery!!

Our banner just about got seen by the folks luckily, although the mad rush for the beach by the people who had already got their turn on the grass didn't help :banghead

And what was with the BBQ... hardly worth queuing for.. grrrrr!!!

I'll get off the soap box now,

happy xmas all,

irishdude

ps. I was the one with the only irish flag :salut: ... just to identify who I was to all AB's;)
